In a two-vote system like that used in Germany, the first vote is cast for a candidate in a specific electoral district, while the second vote is cast for a political party. The first vote determines the winner of the district, while the second vote determines the overall distribution of seats in the parliament based on the percentage of votes each party receives. This system allows for a balance between local representation and proportional representation at the national level. **

However, some people may choose to vote for the AfD due to their stance on immigration, national sovereignty, and opposition to the European Union. Vote splitting occurs when two or more similar candidates or political parties compete for the same pool of voters, resulting in a division of the votes that weakens their overall support. This can lead to a less popular candidate winning an election, as the votes for the similar candidates are divided, allowing the less popular candidate to gain a majority. Vote splitting is often a concern in electoral systems with multiple candidates or parties, and can have a significant impact on election outcomes. **
